Illustration process for Emperor Tribal Lion

My Lion Illustration step by step!

For this artwork I will be showing my process series for my lion abstract and tribal illustration!

First I start by sketching out the outline of my artwork. Once I have that done I just let my imagination take its course. I do not research online or on other images for inspiration, its better for me to just let my hand follow what my mind and soul has to say :)

My process takes time, patience and dedication. I carefully illustrate all my tiny details one by one until I fill each section of my lion template.

Below you can see all the series plus the finished one in black and white.

I then scanned it and moved onto Photoshop for color addition.

I clean up the design a bit, and then add color to each design element one at a time. Takes time, but its fun for me to do!

Below is finished image plus other additional versions for my "Emperor Tribal Lion"

"Oceania" Tribal Nature Illustration Process

Started off thinking about the ocean. I love doing detailed line work and after I started with the waves the sun decided to show up with all its little tiny little shiny details, see color version as well below :)

After Illustration with Pencil is done I go onto my awesome rapidograph pens, and later on I scan it to add color in Adobe Photoshop.

-new- Illustration Process for Elephant Tribal

In Collab with artist Mariam Tronchoni from Society6 who did the beautiful

elephant illustration outline

Click Here for a poster print of "Elephant of Namibia"

Rotring rapidograph pen 0.2 & 0.4

After finishing my illustration, I proceed to scanning it and editing any flaws in photoshop, where I later add the color. Whole process of editing and color adding takes me about 5-7 hours. Illustration of interior of elephant took me 2-3 days. But I had tons of fun with it! :)

More Of My Illustrations Process for "Tribal Evolution Series"

Hi Everyone!

This is another one of my tribal illustrations, this one took me about 4 days to finish.
I will detail all the stages and final process and uses of my illustration.

I use rapidograph pen 0.2, 0.4 and 0.8.
Below are 8 stages of my illustration process.

I also use tools such as ruler and circles template.

After all my stages, which took me 4 days, I scan it and move it into photoshop for some final touches.

This is my final tribal illustration, which I will use for posters, iphone cases and more!

In photoshop I use my design skills and incorporate some mixed media to create these inspirational posters and more with my original quotes.

Hope you enjoyed :)
