Branding Photoshoot by Edelle & Co
Pom Graphic Design // Branding Photoshoot
“My mission is simple. I always believed we are in this
world to do our part, to leave our mark, and that is what I intend to
do in the best way possible. I dream, I envision, therefore I create and
I try my best to make this world a better place with what I can offer. I
know art is a beautiful and real way to unite humanity, so I always
intend to reflect what is real to me, to leave a positive mark and happy
fulfilled clients. ”
- Pamela
I always struggle on how to start a blog post. First sentences either make or brake a post and your attention, so it's kind of a big deal to get it right. This mission statement definitely makes the impact I wanted.
As I was reading the questionnaire I sent to Pamela as
part of the branding process I go through, I always like to ask business
owner's the mission for their business. I can honestly say that this is
my favorite part of the questionnaire because most of the mission
statements are quite gorgeous. Pamela's from Pom Graphic Design
is simply beautiful. It's been said that beauty is within, and Pamela
is just that: a gorgeous soul who honestly wants to do good in this
world through her art.
Inspired by her home country, Peru, Pamela
designs her artwork with a lot of color and patterns unique to the
Peruvian culture. Oh, and she gets lots of inspiration from her two
adorable pugs (how hands down are the cutest little pugs you'll ever
see).
In this photoshoot, rather than highlighting her products,
we showed more of her personal side at home with her hubby, in her
colorful and vibrant office (and cute garden).

Bucketfeet Interview - The Sketch Artist Series
By: Sarah Gouda
Pamela Gallegos, creator of the Tambourine and founder of Pom Graphic Design, holds travel close to her heart. Though born and raised in Miami, her Peruvian roots have deeply impacted her art—and her many trips back to her parents' homeland have imbued her with an appreciation of the country's rich, mystical culture. It's easy to see the influence of travel and nature in her work's bright colors and tribal patterns, and the one-of-a-kind BucketFeet she recently designed are no exception.
Aside from being an immeasurably talented artist, Pamela is also refreshingly honest about her process. She readily opened up to us about the bout of creator's block she recently experienced and just what was needed to help her get through it: "Slumps are inevitable in just about all areas of our lives, and so it is with my art work as well. Usually, it takes a new project to reenergize my creativity. Recently I created my first custom “bucketfeet” shoe design. It was just before this project that I felt like I was in a bit of a creative slump. But then, the shoes came out fantastic and I had so much fun designing them! I have come to realize that the best way for me come out of a creative slump is by just “going for it”— taking on a new project with the same love and passion that I have for what I do as an artist. I just let go and enjoy the journey."

Collaboration for BucketFeet Spring Line collection 2015
In this post I
wanted to share another exciting moment in my artistic career so
far. It was one year ago that I applied between many other artists to have my design printed as beautiful shoes, a year has passed and here they are!
Based in Chicago, BucketFeet is on a mission to connect people through art by tapping into the creativity and diversity of the world. They collaborate with artists from around the world to create products that stand out and tell a story. BucketFeet has collaborated with over 4,000 artists in more than 60 countries. Follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bucketfeet
Bucketfeet choose my 'Tambourine' pattern illustration to be part of their 2015 Spring line collection, and now they are even available at Bloomingdale's! This have been a really exciting year for me so far and has opened a whole new world of wonderful opportunities for me.
I have been drawing for several years now, but in April, 2013 I decided to expand my artistic drawing and design approach. Since then I have gained a lot of attention from various online stores, blogs, and great people overall. See this other post about another collaboration I did for Dakine that is now for sale in Billabong and other surf stores. http://bit.ly/pomdakineblog
In December 2014, I met up with Bucketfeet co-founder Aaron Firestein at Wynwood's Art Basel 2014 when I saw the shoes for the first time. I Instantly fell in love with those beautiful shoes, plus they are incredibly comfortable as well.

Artist of the week on Juniqe! February 2015
HAPPY HOUR WITH POM GRAPHIC DESIGN
Interview originally from: http://blog.juniqe.com/blog/2015/02/05/happy-hour-pom-graphic-design/Miami-based artist Pamela Gallegos has a passion for creating dreamlike realms that feature a medley of Inca-inspired elements. Her flamboyant mixed-media artworks have a hallucinatory quality and are strongly influenced by her Peruvian roots, her travels and the natural world. We took her for a drink to pick her brains.
What are you drinking?
Rather than cocktails, I am more of a wine person. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a good Pisco Sour, our traditional drink in Peru, I just can’t find it in happy hour bars around here.
If you weren't an artist what would you be?
Without overthinking this question, my first thought would be a psychologist. I am always amazed by the power we behold in our minds, we can make or break ourselves with just our thoughts, it’s simply amazing. Another option would be something like an archaeologist whilst happy traveling around the globe.
You say your work is strongly influenced by your Peruvian roots, the travels you’ve been on and the natural world. Can you tell us more about these influences?
Most definitely. I started traveling within my country at a young age. During these travels I was completely captivated and inspired by all that my fascinating culture had to offer, and still am. I recently re-visited one of the places that I find the most inspiring which is Machu Picchu, great way to start my 2015 recharged with only positive and powerful energies from such a mystic place.
Travelling can be very inspiring, fulfilling and awakening and it definitely played a big role in my development into the artist that I am today. In most of my illustrations you see not only a variety of colours and shapes, but also elements of nature in some abstract iconic way, maybe even inspired as well by my ancestors, the Incas.
What are the three things in life that you couldn’t do without?
Family, my dogs (which count as family), chocolate and a good laugh.
What’s your favourite place in the world and why?
I guess I have some more travelling to do to answer this question, but the one place where I travelled (recently as well) and I feel like I belong there, like it is my mother earth, my second home where I feel deeply connected to the soil, surroundings, animals and more. That place would be the Amazonian jungle of Tambopata, Peru.
What keeps you up at night?
Unfinished drawings or exciting projects.
What music or tune are you listening to a lot these days?
I recently moved to a new home, and whilst organising my studio, I found peace by listening to French Bossa Nova.
You create extremely intricate patterns by hand. How long does it take to create one of these illustrations and do you find working on such detail fun or frustrating?
It depends, but usually they take me about 2 weeks to complete. The detailed and intricate aspect of my art is the most fun part to me. Even when my hand starts cramping and losing all sensitivity I keep going! It is my happy place, where I can let my mind wander freely. I do create as well some digital mixed media work, but what I enjoy the most is freehand illustration where my hand has a mind of its own and it’s singing and dancing to its own compass.
Colours or patterns?
Both!! I can’t do one without the other, they are like soulmates in my artwork.
Thanks, Pamela

Handbags and Luggage Design Collection for Dakine
I have been drawing for several years now, but in April, 2013 I decided to expand my artistic drawing and design approach. Since then I have gained a lot of attention from various online stores, blogs, and great people overall.
In this post I wanted to share one of the most exciting moments in my artistic career thus far. After my 'Dreamy Tribal' illustration was completed (see above), I started creating more detailed illustrations and expanding my portfolio to include many intricate handmade patterns and animals as well. Then in August 2013 this e-mail came through:
"Hi
Pamela,
I
am in the process of selecting an artist for the DAKINE Women's AC Series
pack/bag/accessory
2015 Spring/Summer line. I came across your illustrations
online
and after showing your work around to our product and marketing team,
we
thought you would be a great fit for the project."
Two weeks later I had my pattern ready
for DAKINE and they absolutely loved it!
Later in the year they sent me mock-ups
of how my designs would look on their various luggage and handbag pieces, and I
must humbly say that they were beyond beautiful.
Below is a black and white draft. I then added color in Adobe Illustrator.
Several months went by, and just
recently DAKINE contacted me again with some actual photos of my line! They named it 'Rhapsody', and as soon as I
opened the e-mail and saw my design on their luggage and handbags… happy tears
started to run down my cheek. This was truly a big moment for me.
So today I can finally share them with
the world! They won’t be in their stores until February 2015, but they have
been produced and below are the final results.
Pursue whatever it is that you are after. Do not let doubts or fears get in the way. They will always exist, but I believe we must use these feelings to make us stronger, and more determined to prove to ourselves that we really can achieve anything. As long as you have the love and passion, no obstacle can prevent you from achieving your dreams.
POST UPDATE! March 2015
My 'Rhapsody Design' is now available at Billabong stores!
I was beyond thrilled and happy when I went in the store and found this.
