Branding Photoshoot by Edelle & Co
Pom Graphic Design // Branding Photoshoot
“My mission is simple. I always believed we are in this
world to do our part, to leave our mark, and that is what I intend to
do in the best way possible. I dream, I envision, therefore I create and
I try my best to make this world a better place with what I can offer. I
know art is a beautiful and real way to unite humanity, so I always
intend to reflect what is real to me, to leave a positive mark and happy
fulfilled clients. ”
- Pamela
I always struggle on how to start a blog post. First sentences either make or brake a post and your attention, so it's kind of a big deal to get it right. This mission statement definitely makes the impact I wanted.
As I was reading the questionnaire I sent to Pamela as
part of the branding process I go through, I always like to ask business
owner's the mission for their business. I can honestly say that this is
my favorite part of the questionnaire because most of the mission
statements are quite gorgeous. Pamela's from Pom Graphic Design
is simply beautiful. It's been said that beauty is within, and Pamela
is just that: a gorgeous soul who honestly wants to do good in this
world through her art.
Inspired by her home country, Peru, Pamela
designs her artwork with a lot of color and patterns unique to the
Peruvian culture. Oh, and she gets lots of inspiration from her two
adorable pugs (how hands down are the cutest little pugs you'll ever
see).
In this photoshoot, rather than highlighting her products,
we showed more of her personal side at home with her hubby, in her
colorful and vibrant office (and cute garden).

Bucketfeet Interview - The Sketch Artist Series
By: Sarah Gouda
Pamela Gallegos, creator of the Tambourine and founder of Pom Graphic Design, holds travel close to her heart. Though born and raised in Miami, her Peruvian roots have deeply impacted her art—and her many trips back to her parents' homeland have imbued her with an appreciation of the country's rich, mystical culture. It's easy to see the influence of travel and nature in her work's bright colors and tribal patterns, and the one-of-a-kind BucketFeet she recently designed are no exception.
Aside from being an immeasurably talented artist, Pamela is also refreshingly honest about her process. She readily opened up to us about the bout of creator's block she recently experienced and just what was needed to help her get through it: "Slumps are inevitable in just about all areas of our lives, and so it is with my art work as well. Usually, it takes a new project to reenergize my creativity. Recently I created my first custom “bucketfeet” shoe design. It was just before this project that I felt like I was in a bit of a creative slump. But then, the shoes came out fantastic and I had so much fun designing them! I have come to realize that the best way for me come out of a creative slump is by just “going for it”— taking on a new project with the same love and passion that I have for what I do as an artist. I just let go and enjoy the journey."

Artist of the week on Juniqe! February 2015
HAPPY HOUR WITH POM GRAPHIC DESIGN
Interview originally from: http://blog.juniqe.com/blog/2015/02/05/happy-hour-pom-graphic-design/Miami-based artist Pamela Gallegos has a passion for creating dreamlike realms that feature a medley of Inca-inspired elements. Her flamboyant mixed-media artworks have a hallucinatory quality and are strongly influenced by her Peruvian roots, her travels and the natural world. We took her for a drink to pick her brains.
What are you drinking?
Rather than cocktails, I am more of a wine person. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a good Pisco Sour, our traditional drink in Peru, I just can’t find it in happy hour bars around here.
If you weren't an artist what would you be?
Without overthinking this question, my first thought would be a psychologist. I am always amazed by the power we behold in our minds, we can make or break ourselves with just our thoughts, it’s simply amazing. Another option would be something like an archaeologist whilst happy traveling around the globe.
You say your work is strongly influenced by your Peruvian roots, the travels you’ve been on and the natural world. Can you tell us more about these influences?
Most definitely. I started traveling within my country at a young age. During these travels I was completely captivated and inspired by all that my fascinating culture had to offer, and still am. I recently re-visited one of the places that I find the most inspiring which is Machu Picchu, great way to start my 2015 recharged with only positive and powerful energies from such a mystic place.
Travelling can be very inspiring, fulfilling and awakening and it definitely played a big role in my development into the artist that I am today. In most of my illustrations you see not only a variety of colours and shapes, but also elements of nature in some abstract iconic way, maybe even inspired as well by my ancestors, the Incas.
What are the three things in life that you couldn’t do without?
Family, my dogs (which count as family), chocolate and a good laugh.
What’s your favourite place in the world and why?
I guess I have some more travelling to do to answer this question, but the one place where I travelled (recently as well) and I feel like I belong there, like it is my mother earth, my second home where I feel deeply connected to the soil, surroundings, animals and more. That place would be the Amazonian jungle of Tambopata, Peru.
What keeps you up at night?
Unfinished drawings or exciting projects.
What music or tune are you listening to a lot these days?
I recently moved to a new home, and whilst organising my studio, I found peace by listening to French Bossa Nova.
You create extremely intricate patterns by hand. How long does it take to create one of these illustrations and do you find working on such detail fun or frustrating?
It depends, but usually they take me about 2 weeks to complete. The detailed and intricate aspect of my art is the most fun part to me. Even when my hand starts cramping and losing all sensitivity I keep going! It is my happy place, where I can let my mind wander freely. I do create as well some digital mixed media work, but what I enjoy the most is freehand illustration where my hand has a mind of its own and it’s singing and dancing to its own compass.
Colours or patterns?
Both!! I can’t do one without the other, they are like soulmates in my artwork.
Thanks, Pamela

After being born and raised in Peru and relocating to the US, Pamela truly has a sense for many different cultures, patterns, and colors!
We feel privileged to be feature Pamela on all of our product line and to have had her take time from her busy artistic schedule to answer some Q&A's that I'm sure all of her fans and our KESS fans are dying to read!

KIH: What is your first memory as an artist?
PG: Probably since high school when I was day dreaming and doodling in any piece of paper, chair, table or object I found. Going further on explaining a little bit more about myself I have always had this traveling sense of adventure in me from the time that I was old enough to travel by myself and in the company of good friends. I decided to move to the states because I felt like I needed more to grow personally. I have always been very interested in learning more about different cultures and different ways of living life. Both have always intrigued me. I took the big step of leaving my country and family at the age of 19. It was not so difficult going by myself; actually that was the adventurous part. The hardest part was leaving my family. Once I got to the US I worked non-stop for one year, entered college and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Since then I have been passionately pursuing my career as an artist.
KIH: What is your creative process?
PG: I create my art with rapidograph, pencil, oil, acrylics, markers and colors.
In my art I communicate life, energy and forces of nature in
its abstract form. You can see many organic and geometrical multicolor
or black and white shapes in each piece, with tribal, Aztec, ethnic and
native motifs as well.
I also get my inspiration from different cultures and art movements. For example, some of my work has certain influence from my Inca culture, and native icons. These influences are not only from nature elements, but from animal elements as well. My art also has some Egyptian influences. An art movement that inspires some of my work is Art Nouveau, especially the organic shapes and fluidity that you will observe in my art.
KIH: What was your first medium?
PG: oils & canvas
KIH: What is your favorite medium?
PG: Rapidograph & bristol paper
KIH: What is your favorite color right now?
PG: turquoise always
KIH: What common threads do you find show up in your work?
PG: Usually abstract representations of nature; the sun, the moon, spirals, rain, fire, river, wind, tribal motifs, geometric and organic shapes as well.

And all of those elements happen to be with me in my art
because at a very young age I started to feel a very strong connection
with the spiritual world, and started to listen to my body and the
energy that flows in it. It made me discover many things about people,
the whole universe and myself.
I have many theories about life, and the path of self- discovery. Nature is my life, the harmony that can be created in each sense, each smell, each sensation, the cycle of life, the wind, rain, trees, the moon, Mother Earth is the maximum expression of my inner soul and life where I can find my inner balance whilst interacting harmoniously with all the elements and forces of life, while at the same time experimenting a feeling of unity with it all.
KIH: Where do you do most of your work?
PG:In my small studio at this place called hogar ♥
